Training session on "The techniques of production and transformation of organic aromatic and medicinal plants"

The Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) led a training session organized in cooperation with the Department of Organic Agriculture at the Regional commissioner for Agricultural Development in Gabes and the Rural Women's Awareness Service, on "The Production and the transformation of Organic aromatic and medicinal plants " on December 01 and 02, 2022 at the Professional Fishing Training Center in Gabes for the benefit of rural women.

" Agr’Innov " event at the National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia

The Technical Center for Organic Agriculture participated in the “Agr’Innov” event organized by the “Junior Entreprise INAT”, to present the center and its missions as well as the presentation of the project “The Knowledge Center for Organic Agriculture in North Africa KHNA” during this event, which took place on November 30, 2022 at the National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia.

The Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) led a training session organized in cooperation with the Department of Organic Agriculture at the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development in Sfax and the Rural Women's Awareness Service, on "The Production and the transformation of aromatic and medicinal plants in organic mode" and this on November 29, 2022 to a group of rural women in Kerkana.

Field information day on the protection of the organic citrus against pests and diseases

Mr. Youssef AMOR: general engineer at the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB), participated in a field information day on the protection of organic citrus against pests and diseases.

This field information day was organized and animated bay thr Technical Centre Of Citrus (CTA) on November 30, 2022 at the organic farm « Ouzra » in Baddar – Takelsa.

A field visit to the farm of the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture

A delegation from the private school « EL AMAD » composed of 29 students under the supervision of their teacher Ms. Meriem BOUZEIDA, was received and accompaned by Mr. Hatem CHEHIDI, General engineer, during a field visit to the farm of the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture. Technical informations was presented as well as a presentation of the Technical Center and the basics of Organic Agriculture. Clarifications were provided for all their requests.

Follow-up of a field trial on the adaptation of the post season potatoes on organic mode

Friday, November, 25 2022: Mr. Youssef AMOR, general engineer, participated in a follow-up of a trial in the organic farm in Menzel Kamel of the Governorate of Monastir, with the collaboration of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) and the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Monastir.

The trial is to study the adaptation of the post-season potatoes on organic mode.

During this day, the second application of the commercial fertilizers, on the crop, was carried out.

A field visit was realized on November 18, 2022 at the experimental station of the CTAB by a group of students (2nd Year License) from the Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Beja. The supervision was realized by Mr. Salaheddine SOUGUIR, Head of Communication Department.

Thursday, November 17, 2022: the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB) represented by Mr. Youssef AMOR, general engineer, participated in a visit to two organic pomegranate farms at Testour with the presence of representatives of the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Beja: Division of Organic Agriculture, the Territorial Extension Unit (CTV) of Testour, the Plant Protection Station in the North and the Regional Center for Research in Horticulture and Organic Agriculture. During this visit, the health status of the orchards was diagnosed and technical and logistical advices were transmitted to the operators.

Obtaining safety equipment and supplies for the laboratory of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture

Following to the participation of Mrs. Dalel MELKI, chief engineer and responsible of laboratories, in online training sessions organized by international organizations specializing in chemical safety and security, opportunities have arisen to submit grant applications under the form of a face-to-face training course in the United States of America or the acquisition of safety equipment and tools.

Based on the global sanitary conditions linked to Covid-19, a file was submitted for the acquisition of certain safety supplies of which the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture is the beneficiary, which was accepted on March 15, 2022 under the form of a grant in the order of 6,000 USD.

The installation of this equipment and supplies began, after following all legal and administrative procedures, on Friday, November 11, 2022, by obtaining a safety cabinet for the storage of toxic chemicals and acids, followed by installation of surveillance cameras and access control devices.

Participation of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture in the Mediterranean Exhibition of Agriculture, Food Industries and Packaging "AGROMED "

The Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) participated in the Mediterranean Exhibition of Agriculture, Food Industries and Packaging "AGROMED" at the Sousse International Fair from November 10 to 13, 2022.

The participation took place in a pavilion with an area of ​​12 m2, where visitors were welcomed to answer their various questions, also presenting them, on the one hand, the missions and activities of the Technical Center of the Organic Agriculture, and the "Knowledge Center of Organic Agriculture in North Africa - KHNA" project, on the other hand.

A meeting as part of the "Bio-Rest" project

A meeting was carried out at the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture on Thursday November 03th, 2022, in presence of two representatives of the General Direction of Organic Agriculture and two experts from the Organic Agriculture Research Institute "FiBL", as part of the "Bio-Rest" project, which aims to boost the sector and to support the official laboratory for the analysis of pesticide residues and contaminants, to see the state of CTAB laboratories, the measures to be follow for the proper functioning of the analysis tests and the action plan towards accreditation.

A field visit was realized on October 20, 2022 at the CTAB experimental station by a group of students (3rd year License) from the the Higher Agronomic Institute of Chott-Mariem. The supervision was realized by Mr. Salaheddine SOUGUIR.

Working visit to the technical cooperation "Lella Kmar El Baya" in the framework of the project "Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in North Africa, KHNA”

A working visit was held on Wednesday, November 02, 2022 at the technical cooperative "Lella Kmar El Baya" by the engineer Ms. Jouhaina Riahi, Representative of the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB) and Multiplier Coach within the KHNA project. Animation sessions for the children of the cooperative entitled "Let's eat organic" were performed in the morning and it included an oral presentation on the importance of organic food on human health, followed by a tour in the cooperative's garden for the identification of medicinal and aromatic plants and the consumption of meals prepared from the cooperative's organic products.

Also during the same day, a working meeting was held with members of the cooperative and representatives of the Office of Livestock and Grazing to discuss future support projects for professional structures and rural women and the promotion of organic farming. Then, a group of experts from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit(GIZ) GmbH (GIZ) accompanied by a team from West Africa and sub-Saharan belonging to the project "Protection and Rehabilitation of Degraded Soils in Tunisia (Prosol)" were welcomed by the president of the cooperative Mrs. "Leila Mastouri" who is also a knowledge multiplier in the project KHNA. She presented the activities of the cooperative "Lella Kmar El Baya" and discussed the role of the KHNA Project in developing the capacity of actors and disseminating knowledge in organic agriculture. Indeed, Ms. Jouhaina Riahi presented and explained the importance of the continental project “Knowledge Center for Organic Agriculture in Africa, KCOA” that includes five hubs which among them the Northern Africa Hub KHNA.

Meeting on setting up organic field trials

Wednesday November 02, 2022: Mr. Youssef AMOR and Ms. Faten Mansour, participated in a meeting at the Borj Cedria Biotechnology Center with the presence of representatives of the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Ben Arouss and researchers from the Biotechnology Center on the programming of field trials relating to organic farming in the governorate of Ben Arouss during the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.

During this meeting the preliminary experimental protocols of the various trials were determined.

Tuesday 1st November 2022: Follow up of a trial in the organic farm in Menzel Kamel of the Governorate of Monastir, with the collaboration of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) and the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Monastir.

The trial is to study the adaptation of the post-season potatoes on organic mode.

During this day, a weekly fertigation program was be offered using compost juice and other commercial fertilizers.
