Technical visit for assistance and supervision

Friday, June 24, 2022: The engineer of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB), Mr. Salaheddine SOUGUIR, visited an Organic farmer and processor (Prickly Pear) in Sousse, in coordination and cooperation between the CTAB and the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development of Sousse.

During this day, the project was inspected and technical and logistical advice was given to its owners.

Visitors: Farmers group of protected crops from the governorate of Tozeur in collaboration with the Technical Center of Protected and Geothermal Crops.

 Subject: Presentation of Organic Agriculture in Tunisia and around the World, CTAB activities and visit of the different experiences in the center's experimental station.

Assistance and technical supervision of visits organised at the Technical Center Organic Agriculture (CTAB)

A field visit was realised on June 7, 2022 at the experimental station of the CTAB by a group of students (2nd year Professionnal Technician Certificate) from the Sectoral High School for Agricultural Vocational Training in Growing Citrus and Viticulture in Bouchrik. The supervision was realized by Mrs. Sonia Halouani and Mrs. Sondess Hebali.  

Training day on Organic Beekeeping

Mrs. Sonia Halouani, general engineer and Mrs. Sondess Hebali, technician in chief at The Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB), have animated a training day about ‘‘Organic beekeeping’’ organized by the the Agricultural Professional Training Center of Jammel in collaboration with the CTAB.

Information day on the Organic Agriculture

Friday, June 03, 2022 Mr. Youssef AMOR: general engineer, at the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB) animated an information day on organic agriculture at the youth center of Ouedhref (governorate of Gabes) for the benefit of a group of farmers and technicians, with the collaboration and cooperation between the CTAB, the Regional Commissioner of Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Gabes: Division of Organic Agriculture and the Association for the Protection of the Oasis of Ouedhref ( APOO).

Tuniso-Senegalese cooperation in term of the development of organic agriculture

Within the framework of Tuniso-Senegalese cooperation in term of the development of organic agriculture, the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture welcomed a group of researchers and engineers from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Senegal, accompanied by engineers from the General Direction of Organic Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resouces and Fisheries in Tunisia, on June 03rd, 2022. During this visit, an information day was organized in which several interventions were presented:

- "The missions and activities of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture" presented by Ms. Faten Mansour of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture,

- " Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in North Africa " Project ​​presented by Ms. Jouhaina Riahi from the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture,

- "Agricultural Higher Education and Research in Promotion of the Organic Agriculture Sector" presented by Mr. Néji Tarchoun of the Agronomic Higher Institute of Chott Mariem,

- "The role of regional structures in the promotion and support of the organic agriculture sector" presented by Mrs. Naima Osman, head of the department of organic agriculture at the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development of Sousse,

The program also included a visit to the analysis laboratory for pesticide residues and contaminants and to the centre's experimental station.

Field information day on the protection of the organic olive tree

As part of the implementation of the field school program: Organic farming (Sfax – Jbenyena – H'zeg), Mr. Youssef AMOR: general engineer, participated in the animation of a field day on the protection of the organic olive against the main pests and diseases for the benefit of a group of farmers and this, with the collaboration and cooperation between the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB) and the Regional Commissioner of Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Sfax. : Division of Organic Agriculture and the Olive tree Institute.

Date and place: Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the farm of  Mr. Bahri Salmi in Hzeg.

Information day on organic olive production techniques

Participation of the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB) in collaboration with the Regional Commissioner of Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Mahdia, the Regional Center for Research in Horticulture and Organic Agriculture (CRRHAB) and the Olive Tree Institute (I.O ) to the organization and animation of an information day on the production techniques of organic olive trees for the benefit of a group of farmers and technicians

Date & place: May 26, 2022: Agricultural Professional Training Center in Souassi – Mahdia.

Technical visit to the organic estate of Mr. Omar Mezghanni in Sfax

Wednesday, May 25, 2022: a technical supervision and follow-up visit to an experiment on organic aromatic and medicinal plants in the farm of Mr. Omar Mezghanni in Agareb, governorate of Sfax.

During this visit, technical and economic data were also collected in order to determine the production cost of existing crops and to study the economic feasibility.

In addition, a discussion about the work program of the farmer, being a knowledge multiplier within the project (Knowledge Hub of Organic Agriculture in North Africa, KHNA) as well as filming a video about his experience in organic farming.

Visit of representatives of the South Korean "KAFACI" project to the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB)

As part of the South Korean "KAFACI" project, a group of teacher-researchers from the Higher Agronomic Institute of Chott Mariem and the National Institute of Horticulture and Herbs, Rural Development Administration, South Korea, visited the CTAB on May 23, 2022.

During this visit, the activities of the center and the project "Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in North Africa (KHNA)" were presented and a visit to the analysis laboratory for pesticide residues and contaminants was carried out.

Assistance and technical supervision of visits organized at the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB)

A group of students (2nd year Higher Technician Certificate) from the Sectoral Center for Agricultural Professional Training in Vegetables Crops in Chatt Meriem accompanied by a trainer Mr Ali Abdallah,  visited the CTAB on May 20, 2022.

During this day, there was a visit to the CTAB experimental station where the orchards of organic citrus fruits, table vines and olive trees were diognosticate.

Information day on organic farming

As part of the promotion of organic agriculture, the Sadiki school in Tunis organized on Friday, May 20, 2022, an information day for students of the eighth year of basic education.

In this context, the general engineer, Faten Kosuri Mansour, at the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture, animated the day with a presentation that focused on the concept of organic agriculture, the bases and principles as well as the crop and animal production techniques.

Participation of the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture in a workshop as part of the "Bio-Rest" organic farming support project

On Thursday May 19th, 2022, the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture (CTAB) participated in a workshop organized by the General Direction of Organic Agriculture (DGAB) in cooperation with FAO and Swiss Cooperation as part of the Agriculture Support Project Biological "Bio-Rest", which aims to support the capacity of the sector and to support the official laboratory for pesticide residue and contamiant analysis of the CTAB in addition to strengthening Tunisia's position at the top of the list of exporters of these organic products.

Supervision of visits organized at the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture

A group of first year secondary students from Pilot High School of Sousse accompanied by the teacher of Natural Sciences, Mrs. Radhia El Bahri, visited the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture on May 19, 2022.

During this day, a visit was carried out to the experimental station of the center, where the basics and principles of Organic Agriculture and the methods of vegetative propagation of plants were presented.

The “Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in North Africa (KHNA)” project was also presented.

Technical supervision visit

Mr. Hatem Chehidi, general engineer at the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture  (CTAB), accompagnied  by Ms. Imen Hmissi (Researcher at the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Tunis (INRAT)) et Ms. Amira Hachana (Engineer in chief at  INRAT), visited the farm of family Rouis  in Knais/Msaken in the governorate of Sousse in order to evaluate the results of the biological fertilization by rhizobia on the productivity of chickpea cultivation. Within the same day, samples were taken for study in the laboratory.

Training session on Organic Beekeeping Techniques

The Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development of Gabès organised in collaboration with the Technical Center of Organic Agriculture a training session on Organic Beekeeping Techniques on May 17th and 18th, 2022 at the Agricultural Training Center in Zerkine. Mrs Sonia Halouani and Mrs Sondes Hebali animated this session.

Training session on "The techniques of production and transformation of organic aromatic and medicinal plants"

The Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) contributed to the animation of a training session organized in cooperation with the Department of Organic Agriculture at the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development in Jendouba on "The Production and Processing of Organic Aromatic and Medicinal Plants" on May 19 and 20, 2022, at the Tabarka Fishing School for the benefit of the "Knouz Echamal" and "Raheek" groups.

Setup of a field experiment on the effect of mulching with compost on the production of organic pepper

Monday, May 16th, 2022: Setup of a field experiment in the organic farm of Mr. Hichem Bannour in Chorbène of the Governorate of Mahdia, and this within the framework of a collaboration between the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB) and the Regional Commissioner of Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Mahdia.

This trial was carried out in order to evaluate the effect of compost mulching on the production of organic pepper.

Follow-up and supervision realized by those engineers:

-Mr. Youssef Azzabou and Mr. Nejib Fkih Hassen: CRDA of Mahdia.

Follow-up of a field experiment on the cultivation of condiments conducted according to the organic mode

As part of the promotion of research results and the supervision of organic farmers by representatives of the Technical Center for Organic Agriculture (CTAB), as well as to monitor the dissemination of knowledge within the framework of the project "Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in North Africa, KHNA", a field visit took place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, to the Agricultural Development Groupment (GDA) Beni Ayech in Korba region in the governorate of Nabeul with the representatives of the National Union of Organic Operators (UNObio) and Enda inter-arabe to check the situation of the condiments field which is under the process of conversion to the organic mode.
